Tips for the Rapha Festive 500

The Rapha Festive 500 begins on the 24th and ends on the 31st of December. This annual cycling challenge attracts hundreds of thousands of riders every year. Here are some of my tips for completing this event.

Participate in a Group Ride

Groups rides are a great way to pass time, especially when riding indoors. Instead of riding all alone on Tempus Fugit for 3 hours, try riding with a group! The Zwift community hosts hundreds of rides every day, so there will almost always be a ride for you. Especially during the Rapha Festive 500, event organizers will be hosting endurance events to help riders rack up some mileage. Ride with RoboPacers

I personally cannot justify calling Pace Partners RoboPacers, it just sounds so… wrong. Joining a Pace Partner will help you get mileage quickly, and it avoids the problem of having to find a scheduled group ride. Pace Partners run infinitely, meaning you can join and leave whenever you want. Zwift also offers a wide variety of paces, so riders should be able to find one that suits their needs.

Breaking it Down

Want to know just how much you have to do to complete the Festive 500? Here are the stats.

500/8 = 62.5km daily // Metric

310/8 = 38.8 mi daily // Imperial

This is definitely very doable for most cyclists, but ensuring that you get enough rest and recover properly prior to rides will be key. Getting a good nights rest and fueling up for the next day is always a good idea, especially during longer rides.

That about wraps it up! Good luck riders and have fun! Tip: you must complete the Rapha Festive 500 Zwift event in order to get the in-game kit.
