Yorkshire Grand Prix Zwift Classics // Royal Pump Room 8

Overview

Week four of the Zwift classics takes riders around the Royal Pump Room 8 course in Yorkshire. The interesting thing about this race is that the route will be a custom finish partway through the KOM.

The Course

On this course, riders will race less than one lap of the Royal Pump Room 8 course. It is a pretty complex course with lots of punchy climbs. Lightweight riders will want to be very careful on the downhills. This is because they are extremely fast and steep.

Riders will first hit the Yorkshire Sprint Reverse. This is just a regular sprint, the time does not matter. Take this as an opportunity to use your power up to try to get a better one. The power ups in play are Anvil, Draft, and Ghost. Riders will then go up a pretty steep hill before hitting a false flat.

After going down a few descents, riders will hit the first timed KOM. This is going to be the Yorkshire KOM. The climb is less than a mile long at an average gradient of 5.5%. You will then hit a short steep descent before going through the Yorkshire sprint once again.

The race finishes towards the top of the Yorkshire KOM Reverse. The KOM is relatively steep at the first part of the climb, but flattens out towards the top. The climb is a great opportunity for a solo breakaway with a ghost power up. This is something that I am definitely going try on this course.

Bike Choice

The best bike choice for this route will be either the Tron or the Venge with the Enve 7.8 wheelset depending on your rider type. For the riders who are less confident about the climbs, an all-arounder set up will be best. All arounders will definitely rule this course. Expect a LOT of trons!
