Zwift has just announced that they will be doing pace partner led group rides for the next few weeks. This feature is still under the futureworks umbrella, so it will be awhile before this is officially released.

For the next three weeks, Zwift will be testing a bunch of different scenarios of the pace partners.These rides will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There will also be 5 different categories, 3.3, 2.8, 2.3, 1.8, 1.3.

For the first week, the week of June 13th, Zwift will be hosting staggered start pace partner group rides. This will be taking place every four hours on Triple Flat Loops. For the second week, the week of June 20th, Zwift will be hosting mass start pace partner group rides on Wandering Flats. For the week of June 27th, Zwift will be hosting a pace partner group ride with trivia and Zwifty facts around Watopia’s Waistband.

Long-term view

Eventually, Zwift could make these available for group rides when a leader of a group ride is unable to attend the ride. This will ensure that there is still a leader, which is better than a group ride without a leader.
